‘A president who disregards the Rule of Law and shouldn’t be given a blank check to shape the Judiciary’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 2 2025
People’s Parity Project responds to Trump’s first federal judicial nomination of second term
The following statement is attributable to Molly Coleman, executive director of the People’s Parity Project:
“Our democracy is in jeopardy, and we have limited time to act. Over the coming days and weeks, Trump will attempt to fill the federal bench with radical, far-right lawyers dedicated not to preserving the rule of law but to advancing his quest for unchecked and unmoderated power.
“A president who disregards the rule of law and threatens judges should not be given a blank check to shape the judiciary. Donald Trump has 3.5 years left in his term, but the judges he is attempting to install on the bench could advance his authoritarian agenda for decades to come. The Senate must use its power to stop or slow down all of Trump’s judicial nominations before his authoritarian legacy becomes our great-grandchildren’s problem.”
