People’s Parity Project Celebrates the Confirmation of Kalpana Kotagal to the EEOC
Chicago, IL—Following today’s U.S. Senate vote to confirm Kalpana Kotagal as a commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, People’s Parity Project Executive Director Molly Coleman released the following statement:
“After months of unnecessary delays, Kalpana Kotagal has today been confirmed to serve as a commissioner on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission—a momentous win for working people in the United States.
“Kalpana, a member of the People’s Parity Project Advisory Council, has spent her life as a champion of working people. She is a creative, innovative leader in the fight for systemic reform for workers; her confirmation means we will have a working EEOC that fully carries out its mission of ensuring all workers are able to pursue a better life for themselves and their families, free of discrimination in the workplace. Her confirmation also demonstrates what is possible when lawyers choose to use their law degrees to make the world a better place and stand with the marginalized rather than powerful elites. We’re thrilled that Kalpana will continue to serve as a role model for lawyers and law students everywhere as she uses her new position to continue her fight for a better world.”
