Emergency Phone Bank to #StopSingas

New York Governor Cuomo recently nominated Madeline Singas—a notoriously tough-on-crime prosecutor who spent her career at the Queens DA office that withheld exculpatory evidence and who has personally written about wanting to water down New York’s new (and needed) bail and discovery reforms—to the state’s highest court.
New York organizers are concerned that Singas’s long and harsh record as a prosecutor threatens hard-won progress on criminal legal reform. But Cuomo’s nominees are rarely (never?) voted down by the state senate, and the (Democratic) State Senate leadership just announced that the confirmation vote will take place tomorrow—so it is urgent that we voice our opposition NOW.
NYC People’s Parity Project is hosting two emergency phone banks TODAY to tell key Senate members to oppose the confirmation vote. Join us at 12:45pm (RSVP) or at 6:00pm (RSVP).
Call scripts and a brief training will be provided. Please contact nycpeoplesparity@gmail.com for more details.
