Pro-People Lawyering Series: Fighting Homelessness After Grants Pass

August 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm UTC-5

In Grants Pass v. Johnson, the US Supreme Court held that ordinances allowing for fines, destruction of property, and imprisonment for sleeping outside, even when no shelter is available, are not unconstitutional. To push back on the criminalization of homelessness, robust legal and organizing strategies are needed to ensure the human rights of all people. Join PPP and the National Homelessness Center for a discussion on the impact of Grants Pass and steps that lawyers and law students can take to fight for the right of all people to live lives with dignity.

PPP is proud to present our Pro-People Lawyering Series, which will provide ongoing discussions of the many ways that lawyers and law students can support and integrate themselves with social movements and other efforts to improve the lives of marginalized people. Each discussion will feature practitioners working on a specific issue such as workers’ rights, racial justice, homelessness, reproductive rights, and more.
